SCOPE
Architecture Design, Engineering, and Analysis
The project is to design and build a new research facility located in Cape Shirreff, Antarctica. Due to its remote nature, site constraints, and waste requirements, the facility will be required to be completely self-sustaining from a utilities standpoint, and be able to support the daily needs of the occupants during their time there including, but not limited to: cooking, indoor leisure, and sleeping. The program requires that occupants both conduct research, as well as maintain the facility. It is the hope of the owner that the facility be as low maintenance as possible to maximize time focused on the occupants’ research and recovery from the harsh environment.
